A meeting was held in 1959 to decide whether to start the Halstead and Badger's Mount Senior Club under the auspices of WRVS. Mrs Dorothea Elwes being the prime mover of this venture and indeed she was the organiser for many years. She was followed by Mrs Kathleen Sherwood, When Kathleen retired to North Yorkshire Val Dennett took over, and has been the organiser for the past 17 years and involved with the club since 1988. We meet on alternate Monday afternoons, and last year decided to change the name to The Monday Club (does not sound so old and less of a mouthful to say) We try to have a speaker or entertainer at every meeting and about every six weeks we cook a lunch for members. We now have over 30 on our books and the members come from Sevenoaks, Riverhead, Knockholt as well as Halstead and Badgers Mount. We are looking forward to Singing with Decima, a talk on Gardens by Mrs Jean Tallboys, entertainment by Crowborough Townswomen's Guild and a talk on a Wild Life Rescue centre and a couple of Garden meetings in July before we have a break during August.
