Terry Halliday received the Captain’s choice award because when the idea was hatched by Terry, Mick Lynch and Peter Storkey, Terry took the bull by the horns and said “I’ll do that”. He got the whole thing going and paid for the whole event and it is fitting that the villages of Halstead and Badgers Mount recognise that without him the Halstead Open would have failed before it started. It is a fitting tribute for a very well respected member of the community.
